Moderators: Emily McWalter
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Session Number: S-W-04

Session Number: S-W-04

Overview
The Sunrise Sessions for MSK will present the latest techniques for evolving areas of clinical applications for MSK MRI. The topics presented will include MR Imaging in the Presence of Metal, Optimal MR Imaging for MSK Tumors, UTE/ZTE for MSK Applications and Value-Based MSK MR Imaging. Each subsection will include paired technical and clinical talks with emphasis on clinical translation of the most up to date techniques for MSK MR.

Target Audience
Clinicians, physicists, engineers, and trainees.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Explain techniques and applications of MSK MRI in the presence of metal, including advanced technical and clinical approaches to patients with metallic implants;
- Dissect the definition of "value-based" MRI for MSK applications including pitfalls and opportunities for optimizing imaging;
- Describe evolving uses for ZTE/UTE for MSK MRI and how to translate these techniques to clinical practice; and
- List novel options for MR imaging for MSK tumors, including quantitative techniques such as perfusion and diffusion.

Jiang Du
This lecture talks about technical considerations in ultrashort echo time (UTE) and zero echo time (ZTE) magnetic resonance imaging of short T2 tissues in the musculoskeletal (MSK) system. Technical considerations, challenges, and potential solutions in morphological and quantitative imaging of short T2 tissues or tissue components in the MSK system are discussed in detail.
