Target Audience
All researchers (PIs, post-doctoral fellows) interested in learning how to successfully manage grants and all the challenges associated.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Manage scientific projects to achieve goals on time; and
- Assemble the team and create the environment to succeed.

07:00   Recruiting, Hiring & Communication Ruth Tuura

Keywords: Transferable skills: Project management

Recruitment, hiring, and communication are critical to the success of every research study, but how and from where can PI’s recruit their optimal candidate(s)? What are some good ways to assess soft skills as well as the scientific and technical skills of potential candidates? After the hiring process is complete, how can you promote a smooth induction for new team members? Using survey data from PI’s across the ISMRM community, this talk will examine these questions and summarise some key points to consider when recruiting and hiring new team members.
07:30   What About the Next Grant? Yu-Chieh Kao

Keywords: Transferable skills: Project management

As an early career researcher with limited resources, do you have difficulties running the current project in parallel with collecting enough preliminary results for the following grant? As a junior researcher with less experience, are you reluctant to seize the chance of a tentative collaboration? As a young researcher just to be independent, are you dare to challenge and/or tackle the novel questions? This talk will provide some mindset and ethos, especially for the researchers in their early career in academia, to seek and prepare for the upcoming funding opportunity.
