Overview
This session is focusing on the methodology and application of CMR multi-parametric mapping. This session includes two talks: one is about traditional acquisition methods for multiple parameters, and the other is about advanced acquisition methods for multiple parameters.

Target Audience
CMR physicists, radiologists in CMR, and cardiologists.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Recall the basics of CMR parameters; and
- Recall advanced methods for multi-parametric imaging.

07:00   Mapping Multiple Parameters: Traditional Acquisitions Sebastian Weingärtner

Keywords: Cardiovascular: Cardiovascular, Image acquisition: Quantification, Image acquisition: Multiparametric

Comprehensive characterization of tissues with MRI, requires the quantification of multiple parameters, each providing complementary information of the tissue state or pathology. In this presentation we will explore the process of quantification that enables multi-parameter characterization of tissues, as well as its metrological properties. Quantification methods based on conventional MRI sequences and signal sensitivities are introduced and discussed, along with their advantages and technical characteristics as well as their performance in clinical use.
07:30   Multiparametric Mapping: Advanced Acquisitions
Xianglun Mao

Keywords: Image acquisition: Multiparametric, Image acquisition: MR Fingerprinting, Image acquisition: Motion Correction

Multi-parametric mapping techniques are gaining attention for their potential to overcome some of magnetic resonance imaging’s clinical limitations. The major advantages of multi-parametric mapping lie within their ability to simultaneously capture multiple “features” such as motions, T1/T2/T2* relaxation, etc. This talk aims to introduce advanced multi-parametric mapping techniques, describing key concepts that many of these techniques share to produce co-registered, high quality MR images in less time and with less requirements for MR technologists.
