This Campfire features stories from the early days of MR Angiography focusing on non-contrast methods including three MRA pioneers Dennis Parker who is well known for merging 2D and 3D time-of-flight to create MOTSA, a staple of neurovascular imaging, Robert Edelman MD, the 1994 ISMRM Gold Medal winner who inspired decades of innovation with his legendary early demonstrations of Coronary MRA and Paul Finn MD, a pioneer in MRA in the body.

This Campfire features the story behind Sir Paul Callaghan’s achievements as an MRI scientist, educator, public speaker and advocator for the economy and environment of his country, New Zealand, which lead him to win several MRI prizes and the 2011 New Zealander of the Year Award. Join us to listen to untold stories behind his early MRI studies on q-space diffusion, rheology, and sea-ice structure using the earth magnetic field in Antarctica. Our storytellers are his former lab members Drs. Dykstra, Galvosas and Xia. Shots from the 2018 documentary “Paul Callaghan: Dancing with Atoms” by Shirley Horrocks will be displayed.
