Membership Calendar

ISMRM membership runs on a calendar year basis and is effective January 1 through December 31. Membership applications may be submitted year-round.

NOTE: Applications submitted between:

  • January 1 and September 30 are effective for the current calendar year. Approved applicants will receive all publications mailed since January 1, and will be invoiced in October for the following year’s dues.
  • October 1 and December 31 are effective for the following calendar year. Benefits will begin on January 1.

Membership dues are not refundable.

Full Member Fees:

An individual who is involved in magnetic resonance in medicine, biology, or other related topics, in research, education, manufacture, or practice. Full members have the right to vote and hold office. The applicant must submit one copy of his/her curriculum vitae with, where possible, a list of peer-reviewed publications in the field of MR. Do not include abstracts or book chapters.

Sponsorship Requirement: Endorsement by one Full Member of the Society.

Emeritus Member Fees:

Trainee Member Fees:

An individual enrolled full-time in an academic program that actively engages in the application of magnetic resonance in medicine and biology. The applicant must submit one copy of his/her abbreviated curriculum vitae and a brief statement on letterhead signed by a department head/adviser which describes the training program, type of degree, field of study, and expected date of completion by the applicant. Eligibility for trainee membership must be confirmed annually.

  • Ph.D. post-docs may remain trainee members for five (5) years after receiving his/her doctorate. If they are in a faculty position, they no longer qualify for trainee status.
  • M.D. post-docs may remain trainee members for seven (7) years after receiving his/her doctorate. If they are in a faculty position, they no longer qualify for trainee status.
  • The applicant must submit one copy of his/her abbreviated curriculum vitae (CV) and a 'verification letter'.
  • The Trainee Verification Letter must be on institute letterhead, written by your current supervisor or advisor, and must include the following information:
    • Your current degree track (Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D.. or M.D. Candidate or Ph.D. Fellow/Post Doc or M.D. Clinical Trainee/Fellow)
    • Date you received your degree, or expected date to receive your degree
    • Current focus of study or research
  • Eligibility for trainee membership must be confirmed annually.

Emeritus Member Fees:

  • US $50.00 Associate Membership with ONE Electronic Journal (JMRI or MRM)

An individual residing in a financially restricted country and has limited personal income. The individual seeking membership must be involved in magnetic resonance or its applications through publication, education, manufacture, or practice. The maximum annual income required for Associate Membership is the equivalent of US$10,000. Eligible countries will be considered or assessed by the board on a case-by-case basis. Associate Membership is only permitted following submission of a letter from the applicant, the employer, or a governmental authority verifying that the normal membership dues would constitute an excessive financial hardship.
