Candidate Bio

Sophia Mortenson qualified as a radiographer in 2009 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Imaging through the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology. After completing one year at Christchurch Public, she moved to Queensland Australia where she was a senior/charge technologist. In 2016 she returned to New Zealand, Christchurch taking on an MRI training position with Pacific Radiology through the University of Auckland. Sophia Completed her MRI qualifications in 2018 with distinction. She now works for Reform Radiology (2023) as a senior technologist and works as a casual at the CDHB.

Throughout her time at PRG she was persuaded/encouraged by her peers to partake in some of the battle of divisions presentations. She has now presented at two BOD with her first in Adelaide 2019 and second in Brisbane 2025. She has helped moderate some of the ISMRT webinars and last year’s South Island ISMRT conference in Christchurch. This year 2025 she presented at the ISMRT NZ chapter Auckland conference on CJD.
