My name is Anna-Maria Lydon, and I have the pleasure and honour to serve as chair of the Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) for the 2027 ISMRT Annual Meeting to be held in the beautiful coastal city of Vancouver, BC, Canada.
To briefly introduce myself: I am Irish-born, but my home for the past 30 years has been Auckland, New Zealand. My career in MRI began in 2000 when I transitioned from working as a radiographer in cardiac cath lab and angiography suite into MRI. In 2004, I was fortunate to gain employment at the University of Auckland’s first MRI facility and have been working there since! The mix of clinical and research work is very rewarding, especially as cardiovascular imaging makes up a large part of our work. Working with a mixed team of clinicians and researchers helps facilitate opportunities for delivering education to our local MRI technologists and radiographers. Also, most importantly, it helps bring technological advances and techniques into the real-world clinical setting for patient benefit.
My experience in AMPC planning spans international and regional meetings, including as ISMRT AMPC vice-chair for Cape Town 2026, as well as numerous ISMRT Australia & New Zealand Annual Meetings since 2006. Through ISMRT, I have been able to indulge my passion for delivering MR educational opportunities to colleagues both locally and internationally.

Our central theme for the 2027 meeting is “Development in Every Dimension.” We hope to provide a multi-dimensional educational programme with take-homes for all whether you are new in your MRI career or more experienced.
