The Nuts & Bolts of Getting Your Research Funded by NIH

5/17/21
16:00-17:00 UTC

This session is led by two NIH program officers and one scientific review officer. It is intended to shed light of what it takes to get one’s idea funded by NIH. The broad steps covered in the presentations will include how to find a NIH funding opportunity announcement tailored to a specific idea, and how to write a solid, convincing application. The path of the application after submission will be followed, explaining in details where it goes, who reviews it and what are the criteria for review. Common problems found in application will be described, as well as the path of the application after review. An ample questions and answers session will be put aside at the end of the presentations. Note that NIH not only funds US-based applications, but international applications as well.

GRASS MRI
(Green Recovery to Address Sustainable Scientific-future in MRI)

5/18/21
13:00-14:00 UTC

This session will discuss how the MRI research society can incorporate sustainable practices into future meetings after the forced break due to the pandemic. This will take the form of a small panel discussion and Q&A for an hour, and topics will include the future of meetings and local scale changes a lab can do to be more green. We will be happy to carry on the conversion on gathertown afterwards!

The Odd Matching Workshop

5/19/21
14:00-15:00 UTC

This workshop aims at fostering networking and creativity. Participants will be paired with a peer from a different institution (and very likely, research field!). Together, they will devise a novel research idea (in just 15′) and pitch it. Young and senior researchers are welcome to join our session.
