2019 John A. Koveleski Award for Professional Development

This award was established to honor the memory of John A. Koveleski, SMRT President 2002-2003, in recognizing the need for MR professional development of students and new entrants in the field of MR. The recipient of the 2019 John A. Koveleski Award for Professional Development is:

Jason Ortman, A.A.(MR)(R)

For his abstract and poster titled:
 Whole Body Non-contrast Fresh Blood Imaging (FBI) using 3T MRI

Jason Ortman started his career in the IT department for the division of Cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His proficiency with medical imaging was quickly realized and he was recruited to the role of a PACS Administrator managing multi-center imaging research trials as part of the cardiovascular imaging core lab. His interest in understanding the technical aspects imaging lead him to being accepted as part of the prestigious Johns Hopkins Imaging Schools of Medical Imaging, and he graduated as an RT(R) in 2014. He continued his education and completed the MRI program at Johns Hopkins in 2017. Jason continues his work with PACS administration and continues his MR development as a technologist focusing on whole body MR and cardiac imaging. He is the chief technologist at the Center for Advanced Imaging and Research Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
