Why did the meeting change to a virtual meeting?
Due to continuing safety concerns and public health restrictions with respect to large gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, the ISMRM Board of Trustees, with the support of the SMRT, met and voted to transform this year’s annual meetings into a virtual conference (v-conference), including a virtual exhibition (v-exhibition), to be held over the planned dates of 08-14 August 2020.
Expect the same exceptional standard in education and presentations that you have become accustomed to from ISMRM and SMRT. We haven taken into consideration everything that you love about both the ISMRM and SMRT annual meetings and transformed them for a virtual interaction.
We will keep you informed every step of the way and look forward to seeing you all virtually in August.
Are the ISMRM and SMRT meetings separate or combined?
We are excited that ISMRM and SMRT will be a joint virtual meeting this year. The new streamlined registration process will allow for all attendees to have access to everything that the virtual conference and exhibition has to offer.
How can I participate in the virtual meeting as an attendee?
Registration will be available soon.
How much will the virtual meeting fees be?
* To qualify for an ISMRM or SMRT Member rate, your 2020 membership dues must be paid.
** Non-member trainees & technologists/radiographers must provide verification of their current status to receive the reduced fee.
I registered for Paris. Will I get a refund?
If you are registered for the Paris meeting, you will be automatically rolled over to the virtual meeting. You will have a refund due that will be automatically issued in the way it was paid (credit card, check, or wire). No further action is needed.
If you do NOT want to attend the virtual meeting and would like a full refund, email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your cancellation. Be sure to include your 5-digit ID number and full name.
How do I let you know what I would like to do with my registration fee?

If I request a refund, how will my refund be processed?
It will be refunded in the way it was paid (credit card, check, or wire).
Will I get a confirmation once the refund is processed?
Yes, you will receive confirmation of your processed refund.
How does this affect my stipend?
Stipend recipients will receive a waived registration to the virtual meeting. No cash stipends will be given this year. Stipend recipients will receive a replacement notification with instructions on how to accept the waived registration.
How does this affect Speakers and Moderators?
Speakers will receive a notification within the next few weeks from the Central Office inquiring if they are available to record a presentation and attend a live virtual Q&A session. Further instructions will be sent to the speaker directly.
Moderators will receive a notification within the next few weeks from the Central Office inquiring their availability as well as instructions of what the virtual meeting will entail.
How does this affect Abstract Presenters, Posters and Orals?
The Central Office will contact the presenters with instructions and requests.
Can I still earn CME/CE/CPD Credit?
There will be a select number of courses offering CME/CE/CPD credit available.
How will I get my certificate of credit?
When the recordings are available for viewing, we will have the materials available for you to take quizzes and directly print a certificate of credit.
How can I view digital posters and abstract presentations?
Recordings of all presentations will be available on 24 July 2020 at 12:00 AM EDT (4:00 AM UTC)
Will there be a Virtual Exhibition Hall?
ISMRM & SMRT Virtual Conference & Exhibition will feature a virtual exhibit hall. Fully customizable booths that will have the capability to upload a video and other marketing material will be available. Additionally, you will be able to engage in live one-on-one chat directly with attendees that visit your booth.
Will Exhibitors get a refund for booth space?
All exhibitor contracts and fees will be carried over to the virtual exhibition.
Exhibitors that have already paid have the following options:
- Monies paid can be rolled over to cover this year's virtual exhibition and to reserve a spot during the 2021 Annual Meeting-Vancouver at the 2020 rate.
- Monies paid can be rolled over to cover this year's virtual exhibition and a refund of the balance will be issued.
- If not participating in the virtual meeting, a full refund of monies paid will be refunded.
How can I take part in the virtual meeting experience as an exhibitor or sponsor?
Exhibitor and Sponsorship packages will be available in the coming weeks.
What is the new early registration deadline for the 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting?
There is no early registration deadline.
Will the accessibility grants be available for the virtual meeting?
No. All accessibility grants will be rolled over to 2021.
