As the MRI manager I am responsible in delivering a clinical, research and managerial role specific to MRI. My major passion and focus is working in multi-disciplined teams to deliver pioneering care pathways for patients. Challenges of my role are to provide state of the art MR imaging and care utilizing MR Radiographers, Radiologists, Clinical Scientists and Ancillary staff on a strict budget under the frameworks of NHS Improvement, NHS England and the Care Quality Commission. I oversee the delivery of around 36,000 patient examinations per annum across 7 MRI systems compromising of NHS, research and private work. I have held an integral role in the development of GE’s recent MR software releases their online protocol management system and the MR Excellence program. Establishing this status has brought GE endorsement to the centre, resulting in significant software and hardware investment, installation and upgrades, representing significant commercial and reputational value to the organisation. I am overseeing one of five global test sites for the new AIR coil technology at 1.5T field strength in pre-commercial market release. I have been influential in several new clinical care pathways within CUH NHS FT, including a significant prostate cancer diagnostic pathway. I also hold a position on the CamPARI (Cambridge’s Prostate Cancer at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Research Institutions of Cambridge University) committee. I have overseen a significant improvement in our clinical Liver, Gastro-intestinal and Urological imaging. Delivering this has required the combination of innovative protocol management, teaching and training of staff, robust resource management communication between clinicians, Radiologists and MR staff. Delivery of such pioneering pathway’s play an integral role in the NHS Improvements flagship “Getting It Right First Time” (GIRFT) policy. I have contributed to several published journal articles and continue to build my reputation within the clinical and academic fields of imaging. I have also delivered talks to national radiographic audiences at the recent Bayer Academy Forums and at GE customer days have been recent speaking highlights.
