Def Leppard, like Led Zeppelin, seemingly is a band name containing typos. For a metal band, their music is at least moderately melodic.

My family went to their concert a few years ago, in a beautiful venue at Jones Beach, New York. If you haven’t seen them in person, perhaps the most striking thing is that their drummer has one arm.

Like occurred in the Beatles, Rick Allen wasn’t the band’s original drummer. He saw a catchy ad at age 16 and auditioned. The advert read “Leppard loses skins.” A pretty clever way to announce the need for a new percussionist.

To me, Mr. Allen personifies perseverance. He was in a car accident a few years after joining the band. In that accident, his forearm was tangled in the seatbelt, while most of his body was ejected, his severed arm remained in the car. Pretty soon thereafter he worked to use his foot to replace his arm to keep the beat and provide musical emphasis, allowing him to be able to practice his craft-quite successfully. One can’t help but admire that.

The advert above teaches us another lesson. Catchy titles are good for some things; however, science is not one of them. For JMRI, titles should be clear, somewhat concise-but should not be conclusions, questions, or use inventive word play.

Many of you know that our manuscript editors and I edit most every paper that we “print.” This labor of love is to ensure that papers don’t contain typos, and that JMRI has a consistency of presentation. We hope this manuscript intervention provides a tempo for the journal and adds weight when needed. This editorial work requires, like Rick Allen showed, lots of hard work and dedication (I hope), and for us, the use of two arms.

White Matter Perivascular Space Burden in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder and Typically Developing Controls: An Automated Quantitative MRI Study

Overview of the workflow used for analyzing 3D-T1w and 3D-T2w DICOM files. Initially, the images underwent preprocessing via the HCP preprocessing pipeline. Then, FreeSurfer WM parcellation was employed to generate masks of WM regions of interest. Additionally, preprocessed T1w and T2w images were used to generate Enhanced Perivascular Contrast (EPC) images, which were then provided as input to the WPSS algorithm for PVS segmentation. The image shown in the WPSS PVS segmentation box is a 3D representation of the whole-brain WPSS segmentation output. By Girardi et al. (1227–1240)
