Membership Types & Benefits

Description:

  • Full Members are certified or registered radiographers/technologists in magnetic resonance imaging as defined by the standards in the country they reside.
  • Full Members must be a radiographer/technologist for a minimum of two years and have appropriate equivalent professional competence in radiologic practice.
  • Full Members will have voting rights, be able to hold office and serve on SMRT committees.

Description:

  • Affiliate Members are non-radiographer/technologist, working in a MRI-related field, who share the purpose of the SMRT but do not meet the qualifications for Full Membership. Affiliate Members will not have voting rights or be able to hold office, however, they are able to serve on SMRT committees.

Qualification/Description:

  • Early Career Members are radiographers or technologists who have graduated from an accredited program in their initial medical imaging or radiation therapy discipline within the past 24 months, or are registered by the ARRT or equivalent and are within 24 months of their initial certification.
  • Early Career Members will have voting rights, be able to hold office and serve on SMRT committees.

Requirements for Application:

  • Completed online membership application
  • Resume/CV (uploaded with application)
  • Copy of Certification or Verification Letter (signed by current supervisor) noting graduation/certification date (uploaded with application)
    • This letter needs to be on institute letterhead by current supervisor or Department Head indicating your current degree program, start & end graduation date including the supervisor’s or Department Head’s email and phone number indicated on the signature section of the application.

Qualification/Description:

  • Student Members who are enrolled in a full-time academic program in an accredited education institution at the Bachelor, Associate or equivalent levels and have not yet received initial certification.
  • Student members will not have voting rights or be able to hold office however, they will be able to serve on SMRT committees.
  • Once you have met the qualifications to change to full member, you may request a membership status change by contacting the membership department (smrt_membership@ismrm.org).
  • Student Members receive many of the same benefits as Full Members but at a savings of more than 70%!

Requirements for Application:

  • Resume/CV (uploaded with application)
  • Student Verification Letter – (uploaded with application)
    • This letter needs to be on institute letterhead by current supervisor or Department Head indicating your current degree program, start & end graduation date including the supervisor’s or Department Head’s email and phone number indicated on the signature section of the application.
    • This letter is required annually, during the renewal process (uploaded during renewal process).

Description:

  • An Emeritus Member is a SMRT Full Member who has paid the specified regular dues for five (5) consecutive years and has retired from more than casual employment.
    • Current SMRT members interested in changing to an Emeritus membership, are asked to contact the ISMRM/SMRT membership department:

  • The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists' (ARRT) new grant program, Advancing Your Profession: Education and Professional Growth Grants, allows SMRT Members to use the awards for continuing education activities, educational conferences or products, or for ARRT post-primary exam fees.
